As much as I hate to admit it, it’s true. Fanfiction is very rarely appreciated as it could be. People ooh and aah over visual artwork and get so hooked on it that they disregard the people who spend hours upon hours each day typing up their own kind of art. Good literature is as much art as a visual piece is and can take up to twice the amount of time or more to produce.
Just like not everyone is able to draw, not everyone has the patience to write a twenty to thirty thousand word story. Plus, even if you do have the patience, the quality varies, like artwork. Some have a gift for it, others work their butts off for it, just like visual art. I resent and am slightly disappointed that hardly anyone recognises this.
This is in no way slamming those who do visual art.

Writing is easy? Writing is easy!?!?! Oh please! If writing was easy, I would have written fifty novels already!
Writing is an art form just as much as drawing and it takes just as much dedication and talent!
